General instruction how to prepare dried mushrooms.
First check the recipe if the mushrooms can used dried or if you need to soak the mushrooms. If the mushrooms need to be soaked them we advise the next steps.
1. Place the correct amount of mushrooms in a bowl and cover generously with water. The mushrooms need to be fully under water.
2. Soaking time will vary depending on the size and thickness of the mushrooms. Thinly sliced mushrooms take around 30 minutes to fully soak. Thicker mushrooms can take up to one or 2 hours.
3. You can rush this a bit by soaking them in hot water. Mushrooms are ready to use when they have softened all the way through.
4. When the mushrooms are fully soaked you can tt them from the water. Rinse the mushrooms very thoroughly so that they are dean enough to use in your recipe.
5. You can squeeze the mushrooms lightly to remove as much water as possible. Otherwise the mushrooms are too wet for your recipe.
6. You can strain the remaining liquid from the bowl with a coffee filter or paper towel and use this in your recipe, or in another recipe.
Store the mushrooms in a cool and dry place. Always heat the mushrooms before consumption. We advise at least 4 minutes by 75°C.
